A book for the perfect host

Do you love to host guests, to set the table, to cook up a fine dinner and welcome beloved people? If so I have a great and new book to recommend: Herzlich Willkommen (literally: Cordially welcome). Yes the book is in German but it also speaks in a language we all understand – visual aesthetics. This book is the latest project by my friend, journalist and fellow blogger Steffi Luxat and was published by Callwey this month.

‘Herzlich Willkommen’ is structured in six chapters and takes us as guests to six different hosts who invite us into their beautiful homes and let us sit on their tastefully set tables. Interviews with the hosts reveal their secrets tricks & tips to hosting a dinner, throwing parties and more. Every chapter also features a specific event with styling and decor ideas, an expert interview as well as a trend.

Truth be told, I am hardly every hosting people in my home or throwing parties – mostly because my apartment is too tiny and I am rarely at home myself. But going through this book really made me want to invite some besties and throw a little informal and personal dinner chez moi. I also loved the fact that other friends were featured in the book too, like my good friend and fellow blogger Nina Holst of Stylizimo.

Today I am sharing a few pics of one of the host’s apartments thanks to the talented photographer Bernd Ebsen. The home of Julia and Ann Böning combines clear lines in a loft like apartment with ethnic details and a Nordic simplicity. A real eye-catcher!
