A Little Book Break At Home

Some people say that a book is the best way to relax. And I would definitely agree on that. After a long and busy day full of meetings, calls and emails, there’s hardly anything I am looking more forward than a quite evening on the sofa with a good book in my hands. I like English literature, interior books, history books, biographies, travel books and – no wonder as a devoted Urban Jungle Blogger – books regarding green topics like ‘Backyard Blueprints’ by David Stevens. So, today I am inviting you to a little book break in my home.

‘Backyard Blueprints’ is about design, furniture and plants for small gardens and has been published this month as hardback by Jacqui Small Publishing. I’ve received my review copy a few weeks ago but my busy schedule made a quiet evening with the book impossible. This week however I managed to sit down on a sunny day and enjoy my home and the book.

Since I’m living downtown in a small apartment, I can only dream of a small garden. And this book is a great visual basis for garden daydreaming. It is easily structured in blueprint sections regarding the design, furnishing and planting of gardens. Large photos visualize the author’s ideas and trigger the reader’s inspiration for a future garden.

Urban dwelling does not equal a living devoid of greens and nature. I have added quite a few plants to my home to create my own small indoor garden. And if I ever have a real outdoor garden one day, I know where to find some inspiration for its design.

I hope you enjoyed the little book break with me in my apartment!

Have a happy Thursday!

This book break comes at the right time! Since last year I got a small and cozy garden too and now that the wheater even in the north already feels like spring I am longing for ideas how to prepare the garden for this season. Thanks a lot for sharing * julia

A wonderful home tour Igor & pretty little book into the bargain. You certainly use your space well πŸ™‚

Now tell me… are those candles sitting directly on the Bølling tray? I’m always paranoid about marking mine in any way πŸ˜‰

Thank you Gerard. Yes, the candles sit directly on the tray but I don’t burn them like that as I am also too paranoid to mark the precious tray table:-)

Phew! Thank Dolly for that πŸ™‚

Another book to add to my wish list?!! I think I may go broke! How gorgeous is that spread with the lemon tree? I think I need a terracotta flowerpot with a lemon tree in my life.

I’m glad you were able to get a quiet moment to enjoy your lovely home and the book. That bedspread of yours is amazing. Is it new or am I just seeing it in a different light on your blog?

Thank you Lisa! Those quite moments with a cup of coffee and a good book are so rare recently!! The bedspread is new indeed – I bought it in the USA last autumn but I have never used it so far:-) It’s actually a Mexican bedspread.

Always love when you let us have peeks of your flat. It’s certainly changed, more muted in its colour choices – looking very sophisticated:-)

Nice to review the Book while showing us your Urban Jungle:-)) and I’m glad you stayed still for a few minutes to actually read the book (world traveller)!

Looks like a great book to draw ideas and inspiration from. And love what you did to your space. That throw on your bed is beautiful!

Such a nice peek into your home, Igor! And thanks for the little book break! Books like these remind me that we need to actually create a real garden outside. For now it’s just grass & weeds and a mini vegetable garden πŸ˜‰ Have a great styling weekend, Igor!

Ja Bücher und Zeitschriften laden immer zur Entspannung ein. Ausser es sind solche, die für die Uni/Arbeit gelesen werden müssen … die Decke in deinem Schlafzimmer gefällt mir!

    Liebe Grüße, Jan
