It’s not long ago that I told you about the stylish Black Collection launched by Vitra. A selection of design classics has been recently launched in all-black versions such as the famous Eames Occasional table – which eventually moved in with me over the Munich rooftops. It is small, it is versatile and it is beautiful – a design icon that will move with me wherever and whenever I decide to move.

For now it is my practical and stylish companion with maxium flexibility. I use it wherever I need it – currently it is next to my sofa in the living room holding the books I keep reading and referring to recently. Before that it was in my bedroom holding a few plants. Or it is in a corner with a ever changing lot of goodies on top of it – books, blankets, vases, planters and more. And that’s exactly what Charles & Ray Eames had in mind when they designed the Occasional Table LTR (low table rod base) back in 1950 – they created it as a small, variable side table used in their home standing alone or grouped together.

The new Occasional table from the Black Collection comes with an all-black table rod base and a black table top and fits easily into any kind of interior styling. Plus it is pretty compact and ideal to be placed under the Christmas tree. Don’t you agree?

What a beautiful little table. I instantly fell in love. Looks pretty at your place and I think it would look great here, too.

I love those tables to pieces, mine is a regular one and next to my bed. It holds my current reads, but mostly it’s used as a ladder for my elderly cat to climb into my bed. 🙂
