Bohemian Home Office

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know it already – I have recently bought a mid-century teak bureau, that is I was lucky enough to have made the best bid on an online auction site. And now hold on: I got this vintage beauty for 145 Euros! Now there was one challenge though – I have not reckoned to win the bid and suddenly I had to make space for a beautiful bureau in my tiny apartment. But you always find a place for something you love, don’t you? Plus I could finally fulfill my dream of a little blogger home office. Here it is!

I have often spoken of my big passion for archaeology and history in general. In fact I wanted to study archaeology but I ended up studying international business administrations, but that is a whole other story. Anyway, history is an ongoing source of inspiration for me and I often draw ideas from my travels to historically interesting places (this explains why I spent a whole year studying in Greece), but I also find inspiration in art and literature – even for my interior styling adventures!

I am currently working on a minor living room redesign. I will of course remain in the boho vibe but I want to change some details, patterns, colours. I am finding lots of inspiration in vintage art books but also from old photographies and history books. I then browse flea markets, Etsy, shops and my stash of props at home to create something new that sort of reflects all my interests and my passions. Now here is a peek for you what I am actually planning for my living room.

I am still waiting for a few vintage goodies I ordered, then I can get started. Of course I will share the final result with you here on the blog and then I will also speak about some of my favorite online sources to buy vintage home decor items. Stay tuned. Until then I am trying to get hold of the desk mess in my new home office. But the good thing with those vintage bureaus is – once you are done, you just fold it up and close it. And it all looks neat and good again. Actually perfect for such a small home like mine. Yes, I am happy with my new-old home office.

I am off to continue the work on my living room redesign project. I wonder, where do you find inspiration for your interior styling at home? If you have a minute, please let me know in the comments. I am curious. Happy day!

I love those bureaus and especially the way you can close them up to hide the clutter. Yours looks fab and I’m so pleased you finally have your own little blogging space. Looking forward to seeing the new look livingroom.

Hi Igor! Ever since u posted a few peeks of ur secretary on IG, I had been dying to see the whole shot! And now that I have seen it, it’s beautiful !!! I’m seriously in love with it! You won’t believe if I said just today I was on Craigslist searching for a vintage secretary ! Of course I found nothing on Day 1, but I’m still looking! I love that the Secretary folds up, so important in a small space !
As to your qn – my greatest inspiration would be seeing artists and creatives design their own spaces , which are so reflective of their personality, that teaches and inspires me to do the same for myself. I cant wait to see ur new living room!

I made coffee before sitting down to read this post and view the images … totally worth it. Love your new office corner (does your flat have walls that expand?!!) – the desk is a classic. I also love what is going on on the desk, both the accessories and the books. Love this kind of inspiration!

Salut Henda! Merci pour ton commentaire! Le livre est vintage, il s’appelle The Orientalists: Delacroix to Matisse. Si tu le cherches sur Google, tu pourrais le trouver je pense!

It’s definitely an excellent gem you found. I think you feel empty storage quite quickly, once the whole new style is settles down.

On daily basis I look through Pinterest for some inspiration. By following people I share view and taste, I kind of put miself into a flow while serving through updates.

Lot’s of my inspiration are coming from are traveling. with every new country and place the view on same thing becoming wider and even sometimes changes or evolving.

People also have influence. When I meat people such kind of people, I feel a real blessing.

You’re one of those, who never stops and continues to evolve. Please continue to do so. Thanks for all the inspiration you giving me!

So happy to have finally some time to jump over to your blog again after some travels and read some of your posts. O Gosh how time is running….
I really like your little workspace oasis and the little details. I didn’t get it where you bought your wonderful bargain, the vintage beauty for just 145 Euros?
At the moment I’m still browsing Pinterest for inspirations (as you know), this time for a new rug and art. All rugs I like are quite expensive guess I’ve to make a choice soon 😉 I also like being inspired by travel trips as you are, we recently came back from Rome an I was overwhelmed by the mix of acient and more “modern” atmosphere.
    Hugs from Berlin,

Welcome back Nina! I noticed your wonderful Rome trip over on Instagram!! I bought my bureau on an auction site called Lauritz and it was a real bargain. Guess I was lucky! And I can’t wait to see which rug and art you will opt for! The choices are too overwhelming sometimes, right?!
