As a city guy I am always smitten by cool, personal and lived-in urban homes overlooking city rooftops, with bakeries, cafés, shops and bars on the reach of the hand. But as an avid Urban Jungle Blogger I am more and more enchanted by beautiful cottages on the countryside, with a relaxed, cosy interior styling and lush gardens and nature right at the doorstep. One such example is this design cottage in the French countryside.
This 19th-century stone house is nestled in a valley in the Normandy and used to have an attached barn to it. When the new owners bought this gem it was in a poor state with a wild and overgrown garden. Together with Paris based interior company A+B Kasha they have transformed the old and dilapidated stone house and barn into a design retreat on the countryside making it an urban dwellers dream escape destination.
I love the relaxed and comfortable interior styling of this countryhouse. It is not overly rustic – I don’t like when a countryhouse looks too rustic. Here a perfect balance has been achieved by combining the rustic charm with a contemporary design and a lived-in atmosphere thus creating an almost urban vibe with all the benefits of a spacious and relaxed countryside location.
If I had such a house on the countryside, I would bid the city goodbye. Maybe:-)
