From Place To Space: Greece

It’s only been a few weeks ago that I’ve come back from the sun-spoilt Greek island of Rhodes. I love travelling the Greek islands. Back in my university time I spent a year studying in Athens and ever since I’ve grown accustomed to Greece, the Greek people, language, food. And taking into consideration my soft spot for maritime home decor, it was more than clear that the very first ‚From Place to Space’ blog post had to be about Greece.

What I love about Greek styles is the use of stark, bright colours that seem to be even a tad brighter than anywhere else due to the very special light that illuminates everything in a unique way – from nature to worn surfaces and hues. The light adds a notion of timeless elegance and beauty. Moreover, I love the references to tradition in Greek homes. Old, family heirloom icons, earthenware, oriental fabrics – all these elements make a matchless blend of fine home decor and an exceptional approach to unintended interior design.

I hope you will find some inspiration here on how to bring a bit of the Mediterranean into your interiors. Sometimes it takes just a few little things to bring holidays where they belong – home!

Hello again Igor. How’s it going this fine Saturday? I’m really digging that boat with all of the pillows piled inside. What is that, a bed? I could definitely rock myself to sleep in that vessel 🙂

This is GORGEOUS! All those layers and layers of prints and blue tones in that boat are so beautiful! So happy I have found your space!

Hi Mariah, hi Khristian, thank you so much for your lovely comments. Hope this Mediterranean happy trip inspires you a little bit:-) The boat was used for that specific shooting to add to the maritime feeling – but the idea of rocking oneself in there to sleep: I’m so in:-))

I love Greece. After (like you) spending time there in college, my family is lucky enough to travel there usually every other year for my husband’s work. My son (who loves to travel to unusual places) says, “Greece again???” when for me, it’s not enough! Gorgeous inspiration here. Makes me ready for our trip next year!

This is a fantastic colour palette! I haven’t been to Greece since I was very young but I distinctly remember the blues everywhere.
