Funky Urban Design: ‘Volkshotel’ In Amsterdam

If you like traveling as much as I do, you know how tricky it can get to find a good, nice and affordable hotel. Especially if you embark on a weekend city trip to one of the European cities and you don’t want to blow your budget on hotel accommodation. Well, if you happen to plan a trip to Amsterdam anytime soon, there is a new hotel on the cities tourist landscape worth a look: the ‘Volkshotel’.

End of June, the ‘Volkshotel’ opened its doors with a cool opening party. The very urban looking hotel seems to blends a sort of Dutch and Berlin kind of interior design – raw, urban, industrial, funky. And the price tag is very, very tempting! Plus it declares on its website that it is a hotel for single moms, for stockbrokers and punk rockers, for dandies and poets, for dishwashers, biologists, night bloomers, artists – it is a hotel for people. Which actually means ‘Volkshotel’ in its literal translation. Even in German it means ‘Hotel for the People’.

Even though I couldn’t get myself end of June to Amsterdam to party with the local crowd, my friend and fellow blogger Desiree went there and confirmed the hotel’s coolness – good enough for me to share it with you! And moreover I learned that I will be staying in this hotel during my next trip to Amsterdam. But that is a whole other story to be told another time.

Happy weekend my friends!
