Ideas For A Happy Weekend

Hail to the soothing power of weekends! I am off to Austria to visit my family. That means I will spend some quality time with my mum, my two little nieces, my brother and sister-in-law, my friends. I will talk, laugh and reminisce about past days. I might be going through some old photographies at home and I might eat dinner out of the old enamelware plate that my mum got from my grandmother when she left what then was Yugoslavia to start a new life more than thousand miles away from home.

Have you ever thought of those tiny, unpretentious things in our homes that we carry along to the places and spaces where our lives take us? Those little things that remind us of our home away from home? Happy weekend, friends!

P.S. If you need more weekend inspiration, make sure you click and check the brand new issue of the fab Australian interiors magazine EST Magazine. Here is the link.

I just both real some apothecary jars today (thrift store find!), they look the same as the ones in your picture. I love EST. Enjoy your weekend!

Hope you’re having a nice time with your family. I have some old metals jars for keeping coffee, flour etc. that my grandmother got when she got married. Real treasures! Off topic, I was in Thessaloniki yesterday catching the last winter sales. Found some true jems in Zara Home 🙂

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend Igor. This is such a sweet description of what home means. In answer to your question yes,for me also, my grandmother’s plates are hugely evocative of home, family and my childhood.
