I am back from a short trip to Amsterdam and of course I came back totally inspired by this amazing Dutch city. I consider Amsterdam as one of my favorite cities as it has a very good and creative vibe, wonderful canals stretching throughout the city and stylish and hip inhabitants. Even though I spent the days at a business meeting with colleagues, I managed to get out one day and spend it in town with my friend and fellow blogger Desiree. She introduced me to a brand new and fantastic green store that made my Urban Jungle Bloggers heart bloom but I will tell you more about that in a few days. While in the store I spotted some beautiful and pretty happy illustrations and – to be honest – I fell in love with them.
The playful illustrations are the work of the Dutch artist Lieke van der Vorst. Her illustrations have a wonderful, almost dream-like dimension: She invites animals to the table to eat with her illustrated folks, she hugs racoons and drinks tea with bears. Despite this fable like atmosphere, her inspiration comes mainly from daily life and the nature, her garden work, baking and going to the market. She works from her studio in Holland and illustrates her own work as well as commissioned projects.
In a nutshell (I can visualize this saying in a type of illustration by Lieke van der Vorst): I love her work! And I ordered one print. Guess which one! If you want one too, here is the link to her shop!
Happy hump day!
