IMM Cologne 2014 Interior Design Highlights

Last Monday I shared some interior design trends from Copenhagen with you, today I am bringing back some design highlights from last week’s imm 2014 international furniture fair in Cologne, Germany. My fellow blogger friend Ricarda and I organized the ‘Blogst Lounge’ at the imm fair and hosted almost 30 German lifestyle bloggers. Our day included a guided tour of selected exhibitors, a little blogger presentation held by Ricarda and me, and free time to roam and discover interior design gems at the fair.

As an ‘Urban Jungle Blogger’ I was very happy to see green on the rise! Many booths were decorated with potted plants, big ones, small ones and I feel confident to say: Green is on in the homes in 2014! Bring it on! I noticed also a growing number of marble furniture and brass elements. Warm, saturated colours were present too as well as great combinations of wood, marble and leather. Moreover, I spotted lots of modular furniture concepts – the trend towards individuality and co-designing by the customer.

January and February will remain busy months concerning design and furniture fairs, so expect more interior design highlights from Paris and Stockholm over the coming weeks. Stay tunes my friends for interior design from all around Europe!

Thanks again to all the sponsors of the ‘Blogst Lounge’: Auping, Association of the German Wallpaper Industry, Grohe, Lago, Piure, Muuto, Stoll / Hay Showroom, Vapiano.

Looks like a real colour feast. Glad you liked what you were seeing there, esp. the green πŸ™‚
Who is the sideboard at the top by? Very nice.
I spy my much beloved ‘Up’ lamp in the muuto pic πŸ™‚ Have to be honest though – muuto doesn’t look that different from previous years… and I like that fact πŸ™‚ Perhaps shows they aren’t so concerned about trends?
Thanks for the overview mister. Always appreciated!

PS… where are all the guys? Are you the only boy in that pic? The interiors & design blogging world needs more men!

    • Reply Igor Josifovic 20 January 2014 at 14:38

We were only two guys in fact – I agree, we need more men in design blogging! The sideboard at the top is by Gubi.

Hangs head in shame! Of course it is… it’s a variation on a Grossman Dresser?

And yep… we need to get on a men recruiting drive!

Hello Igor I’ve been yesterday in Milan lifestyle fair Homi…and your post makes me reflect a lot about the difference between Italian interior design bloggers and German ones…we have so much to learn from you all!!

    • Reply Igor Josifovic 20 January 2014 at 14:44

Oh you must report on the trends from Milan, Elisabetta! I am curious! I have never been to the Milan fair but want to go next time! And in my post here most of the designs are actually from Scandinavian labels:-)

  • Reply elisabetta @italianbark 20 January 2014 at 15:52

Yes for sure I’m going to publish my pics from Milan by tomorrow on Italian Bark…however, lot of colour and SO MUCH coastal decorative style..!

Love the first picture with the green velvet arm chair. Wouldn’t have thought of combining it with light wood, but it works! The pendant lamps are really nice too, and are like icing on the cake in this scheme. These posts from fairs are so inspiring, I’ve been following them all over the blogworld. So thanks for sharing!

    • Reply Igor Josifovic 21 January 2014 at 14:10

My pleasure, Katja. I am happy you appreciate it! And the first picture was taken at the beautiful stand of GUBI – just if you are wondering:-)

Thanks for sharing. I couldn’t go this year but I have you to see the trends. Again a lot of yellow like last year it seems? Love those shiny lamps.

    • Reply Igor Josifovic 21 January 2014 at 14:11

A pity you couldn’t make it Louise. And yes, I’ve noticed many yellow elements – now either it is still trending or I am just in love with the hue:-)
