You would think that someone who writes an interior design blog is all easy and jumpy when it comes to changes in the home, right? I tell you what: I am not that kind of guy. Currently I am pondering a tremendous change for my living room (at least I consider it tremendous): I am thinking of getting a leather sofa! Yes, one of those beautiful brown leather sofas. Not dark brown, more like cognac. But why a leather sofa? Well, I really like how those brown leather sofas look in a boho interior. That mix of patterns, colours, fabrics and the raw brown leather – it seems like a perfect match to me.
Now I admit: Making such a decision ain’t easy. Moreover, the fact that my current BoConcept sofa is not really old nor worn out make it even trickier. Many questions pop up. Is it reasonable to exchange the sofa now? What will I do with my current sofa? Additionally, the new sofa I have in mind is a tad bigger – is that smart for my small room? Well, all good questions. But when it comes to interior questions I am so bad in answering them reasonably. Guilty as charged!
To get me into the mood, I was searching for some great inspiration on Pinterest. I have curated a few of my favorite examples for this blog post. I love the look of a brown leather sofa with a kilim rug or a monochrome rug, combined with kilim cushions and throws for extra cosiness. In combination with a low wooden coffee table I think this looks rad. Plus I like the colour palette of brown (leather, wood), blue (indigo), ochre, grey, and even some vibrant red and orange hues. Why not some dusky pink too?
So what do you think of a brown leather sofa? I mean both, in general and for my little home? I might need your collective help! When you imagine it in a boho setting with lots of plants around? Sounds not too bad, right? Right? Riiiight (*squeaking*)?

Viel Freude beim Aussuchen
Liebe Grüße
Rita
Let’s see!
I think you should get the sofa (life is too short).
You know what: You are absolutely right, Holly! 🙂 Thank you xo
Also eigentlich spricht nix dagegen und alles dafür! Außerdem macht es dich glücklich. 🙂

Hahaha absolut!! Neue Berufsbezeichnung: Enabler!
A leather sofa is the best thing ever! (Against the background of 2 boys, 2 dogs, 2 cats here). It’s hopefully huge, comfortable and cozy and classic . Thumbs up all the way.
Ah thank you!!! Comfy is crucial indeed. And good looking of course haha.
A brown leather sofa will never go out of style, they weather well (I think they even look better broken in), and like you said can be styled any type of way for any season und ze trends. However I completely understand the fear of something too big- been there! Bought this massive but gorgeous sofa knowing it was bigger than my space allowed. Drove me insane- find bigger apartment or another new sofa??? But I’d go with the leather. Throw caution to the wind- space allotment be damned!
Great advice Nikolas. Well I am looking for a bigger apartment already, it is just a bit tricky here in Munich. But I think I will go for the leather sofa – I am just too curious how it will change the look of my apartment and it is pretty comfy too (I tested it in a showroom).
Haha I’m looking forward to seeing the post when you have it all worked out.
I am looking forward to that too:-)
I love the colour! It’s so much nicer than black leather sofas. And less common too.
Yes I prefer a brown leather sofa. I think it suits my interior style better anyway!
I like the “used” leather look.. Very practical as you won’t notice it ageing!
That’s true. But I also like the process of ageing of leather sofas as – with a bit of care and love – they age beautifully!
Definitely. Leather looks better with age in my opinion too!
