When it comes to interiors, I have a few soft spots: plants, ceramics, wooden objects, home textiles. I love to have a variety of those at home to change and recreate my habitat. I am particularly drawn to objects that are handmade – I admire the little imperfections that make it perfect in my opinion. But I digress. I actually wanted to introduce you to a new label from Portugal – Makana. They produce and sell handmade rugs which come in a wonderful range of neutrals and saturated colours.
They have a nice selection of flat woven cotton rugs and adorable rag rugs – those are my personal favorites and THIS model in particular. However, I already have like four rugs for my tiny apartment so I try to control myself. But truth be told: How can you resist such nice designs, handmade in Portugal for such a reasonable price? Right? Right! Happy shopping!

Thank you for the introduction to the label. The striped rug in the top photo is right up my alley. There is this one corner in our home where I would like to use more than one rug and just layer them. I am viewing the collection right now and I have already found a few rugs that I like. There rugs have the perfect imperfections.
PS. You have a soft spot for plants? Really? ; – )
Totally Lisa, give me pics with plants and I’ll buy anything LOL. Seriously, I love the imperfections of handmade rugs, it has so much more character. Plus I find their prices super reasonable!!! Soon to be added to my bedroom!
Hi Igor,
Fabulous post as always. I’ve been looking for a Portuguese rug stockist for sometime now. Here’s hoping Ellie gets in touch with me so we can sell these woven stunners at Iberica. Thanks again!
Wow fantastic, that would be fabulous. Portuguese rugs all the way to Iberica in Australia!! Happy you like the rugs as much as I do!
