New Designers Guild Book: Meeting Tricia Guild

Last week I was invited to attend the launch party of Tricia Guild’s latest book ‘Colour Deconstructed’ or ‘Colour Farbräume’ in German. The event was held at the German headquarters of Designers Guild in Munich (their third European branch after London and Paris). The rush of people was incredible, we literally rubbed shoulders in the Designers Guild showroom. An interesting mix of creative people, businessmen and journalists was enriched by a small bunch of bloggers, that is my friends and I.

Tricia Guild was not only the star of the evening, she also was the glamorous dash of extravaganza that makes an evening a soirée de luxe. She enchanted the crowd in a flashy red dress and took over the stage for a first hand introduction to her new book. She took us on a virtual colour trip through her book – we learned about her inspiration that she gathers on her numerous voyages, her passion for vibrant colours and the power of neutrals like grey to work as calming backgrounds.

‘Colour Deconstructed’ is structured in colour chapters. Every colour theme is introduces by inspirational photography from travels, nature and people, while the subsequent pages give a more detailed insight into the use of every colour scheme in interiors. Here comes the full power of Designers Guild to the foreground. The layering of colours and patterns transforms rather dull or boring rooms into aesthetic interiors. And the wizard behind all of it is the impeccable Tricia Guild. No need to say that I queued to get my copy signed and she did it with such a wonderful remark – I was blushing a little bit!

If you feel inspired to set off to a colorful journey by flipping through the new book, you can order the English version here and the German version here.

Here’s to colours!
