Since I am currently on vacation and taking in an annual amount of blue hues (join me on my trip on Instagram), I have asked the creative duo of Layer Home to fill in for me during my absence. If you have not heard of Layer Home before let me tell you one thing: they have a crush on vintage objects. So in today’s guest post the creative duo will show you one bedroom in three stylings – and yes, with quite a few vintage pieces. Their basis is a bedroom in a neutral/white shade. They use this blank canvas to layer colours, textures and patterns using accessories and decorative pieces. This enables flexibility to ‘switch up’ a space in line with mood, season or just because you feel like it! In this case, they took their white guest room and styled it up three different ways mainly just by swapping around colours and textures.

Bold Blue Hues
The beautiful Abigail Ahern Velvet Parrot lamp was the initial inspiration for this look adding an element of fun to the scheme. Teal seems to still be very much a ‘now’ colour and literally makes the room pop. The cushions are from Oka and the lacquered jewellery box and blue jug are vintage market finds, the beautiful daisy mirror is from Ruby in the Dust.

Vintage Pink with a dash of Royalty
This scheme was their favourite and it’s definitely the original 1950s blush pink chair that grabs our attention. It is possibly a little too oversized for the room space but they were determined to include it in the styling. The floral linen cushions from Designers Guild just sing vintage chic.

Feeling Fresh and Gold
This look uses one of their favourite colours – mustard yellow – and is complemented by beautiful gold accessories and accents. The whole look feels very fresh and decadent at the same time. The cushions are from West Elm and many of the accessories, such as the gold floral wall-sconce and the small thick gold frame are vintage.

So I wonder – which look is your favorite? All looks have a rather feminine touch, but can you guess which one is my favorite too?

I love all the accessories. Can I ask you where you found the yellow and white alarm clock and the fairy under glass?

    Thank you.
