Portugal is not only a beautiful country on Europe’s southwestern edge, it is not only home to the wonderful Fado music, and no, it’s not only the country where most of your cork comes from. It is also a country known for its textile craftsmanship and industry. So it comes as hardly any surprise when I discover another fab textile brand and after a quick research I find out that it is from Portugal. Just like my latest rug crush: Rug by Gur.
Rug by Gur is a Portuguese design label which focuses on tradition and the traditional materials and techniques of the history and culture from Portugal allowing it to express itself in new artistic forms through collaborations with artisan weavers of rugs. The designs are bold, fun, colourful and unique – these rugs look like art but they are perfectly capable of serving their duty as a cosy rug or a cool wall hanging.
I discovered Rug by Gur more by coincidence than anything else. It was during a trip to Hamburg when I discovered fun rugs hung on a wall of a interior shop and I snapped a pic on Instagram. I had to discover the brand immediately and today I want to share my discovery with you. Probably some of you knew Rug by Gur already.
Ever since I’ve discovered them I am trying to figure out which corner of my home could be made fit for a little Rug by Gur. Once I’ve solved that tricky question, I will find myself in front of yet another difficult question: Which rug to choose from Rug by Gur?

These rugs are really a thing. What I like about them is how unpretentious they look and at the same time they could bring brightness and very specific fun spirit at your home. So cool!
Oh they’re awesome! I love how bright and bold they are, and it’s even better that they’re from Portugal – it’s one of my favourite places. -Lara
I totally agree with both points Lara – for the rugs and for the beautiful country!
