Winter seems to go well with blues, colour and music that is. It is a period with lots of moody weather (at least here on the northern hemisphere), the desire to cocoon in your nest, to contemplate and reflect. Honestly, when I write these words I feel like that is what I want in fact, but quite often I happen to not be in such a quiet and relaxed mood, not even in the moodiest winter time. However, I happen to reserve some quiet evenings, not taking self-implied tasks too seriously and enjoying an idle life. I think we should all put idleness on our list of resolutions in 2016! For our own sake.
These days I am reflecting the winter blues in my home with a few basic changes and additions or better said replacements. I have replaces my usual sofa cushions and throw with some moody blue hues and simple, Nordic designs from one of my favorite Scandinavian homewares brands, Muuto.
Two new cushions from the Mingle series designed by Thomas Bentzen in blue and petroleum hues add comfort and a haptic delight to my sofa. These cushions are wonderful to touch and feel on your skin as they are made of two different textiles on each side, both produced by top-notch textile maker Kvadrat. One side has a more textured surface, the other is smooth and flat-woven. They come in a rectangular and square shape for playfulness as well as in a wide range of colours according to taste and style.
For more cosiness I have opted for the Loom blanket designed by Simon Key Bertman. This soft hand-woven throw is made of 100 % cotton and has a supple touch and feel on your skin. Here again I went for the blue version, but it also comes in six more colour options. The throw features a geometric pattern and plays with multiple tones of the same colour on each throw.
The third and almost invisible addition is the Groove trivet on my table, cut from solid marble and used in my case as a trivet for my cactus on the coffee table. It all reflects a sort of simplicity and cosiness that is so typical for Scandinavian brands and interiors. I do not consider my home a typical example of Scandinavian design, but I like to mix in Scandi elements to create a more individual and personal interior style.
And now I am off to idle living on my sofa. And if I doze off, please forgive me. First I’ll put some Blues on. Happy winter day!

That Loom blanket … it’s gorgeous; cannot stop looking at it. I just opened the website. I love the blue one you chose but the tangerine is also sweeping me off my feet! The grey one too!
Thank you Lisa!! Oh yes, I love the tangerine one too and I was hesitating but I opted for the safe colour in my interior – blue always works here:-)
Fügt sich alles wieder mal sehr gut ein und sieht äußerst gemütlich aus.
Danke Dir Sarah! Gemütlichkeit ist die oberste Prämisse bei mir:-)
I love the cushions, the different textures on either side are gorgeous!
I agree Sainab! I really like the touch & feel of the cushions – I think that texture is an often neglected aspect in interiors and needs more focus!
Yes exactly! I totally agree texture can be so important at times
Beautiful cushions, beautiful home x
Thank you very much Geraldine:-)
