Today I don’t want to talk about my home, but about small living with style. There is this common rule saying that a small space should be kept white and bright. But have you ever considered the opposite? A small apartment in dark, velvety hues combined with fine design, smooth materials and plants? Yes, that works too!

And seeing the styling, it almost seems as though the white and bright rule is a myth. This small apartment works pretty well style wise with all its dark hues. The concrete walls in the living area and the dark grey walls in the bedroom and en suite bathroom look very grown-up and cool and are perfectly accomplished with a deep and saturated colour palette of home accessories.

It is also about a carefully selected assortment of design objects and plants. Home textiles, decorative objects as well as mundane accessories like tableware are all beautiful design objects and accentuate the grown-up style of this small apartmen inspiration.

I am a fan of dark, moody walls as fab backdrops to make furniture, accessories, art, and plants pop! I think it is amazing, even in a small space!

What a courageous decision to give all the walls in this small apartment dark colors. The effect is really lovely. Makes it look very cosy and stylish!

We used the same technique for one of our latest projects in Munich – Schwabinger Tor – for which we created three different living concepts. For the concept STYLE we used aubergine paint on all walls to highlight the furniture pieces and it had a really impressive effect!
