The Winners of the #Beingathome Contest

A few weeks ago I introduced you to the cool initiative by the German association of the furniture industry VDM entitled #beingathome or #zuhausesein in German. It was a global photo contest to emphasize the importance of a personal home full of character. The VDM invited people from around the world to send in pictures of what #beingathome means to them in ten defined categories. I was honored to be one of the jury members and to help pick the following ten lucky winners out of 232 photographs from 19 countries:

Category: Other forms of Living. Winner: Pepper Schmidt, Germany. Prize: Sidetable ‘S18’ by Thonet.

The lucky winners did not only receive each a piece of authentic German design for their homes, but they will all attend the coming imm furniture fair in January 2020 in Cologne, Germany, too. Additionally, all their winning photos will be shown in a exhibition at the fair and a design book containing all their winner pictures will be published as well. Wow, what a treat for the winners! And I am happy we have great people from around the globe who made the cut! Congrats to everybody!

    Gorgeous photos of lovely living spaces. I didn’t know about the competition till now, would have been tempted to enter. Bet it was difficult to pick out the winning entry.

    How interesting and refreshing!
    Congratulations to all the winners!
    I especially like Agata Dimmich’s hallway for the use of color, Roger Lemoyne’s living room for the sleek furniture and Vicson Chan Chua’s home office because it manages to makesworking inside looking like being outdoor.

    I love everything, but I admit I will steal the idea from the first photo because that table and everything would fit perfectly in my dining area. And the little cabin from the last photo, that will be a surprise for my sun when spring will come. Love it…. thanks so much for sharing.
