We all need them, we all must have them: Our time out moments at home. You know, the kind of moments that you take for yourself entirely. When you put on your favorite record and dance along, when you crawl into bed with a book, when you enjoy a coffee on the sofa, when you tend to your plants. Whatever your activity is, the important thing is to take that precious moment every day, to claim it and to fiercely defend it – despite incoming phone calls, an overflowing email inbox, a growing to-do list, mundane chores awaiting execution. It is your moment of freedom from all duties, it is your daily gift to yourself and it is the moment of inner bliss.
I have several kinds of moments I take for myself every day. It is the after work coffee that I enjoy while putting on some vintage records and reminiscing of good old times. It is my weekly plant care routine when I zoom out everything but my plants – oh what bliss it is to not think of blogging, working, answering emails and taking decisions. All I do in that very moment is enjoying the company of my plants and looking after them. Have I mentioned the term inner bliss? Yeah, there you go.
Don’t get me wrong: I don’t mean this is the daily time out from a burdensome and arduous life. Yes, life does get sometimes burdensome and arduous. But life is mostly a pleasure in all its facets. I also enjoy the moment when I work hard, when I lose myself in writing, working off to-do lists, taking pictures for the blog. All this is great too but it is work and as much as we might enjoy it, when we sit down and feel that fatigue creeping in we notice that our body and mind need breaks too. And this is where your daily time out moment chips in.
So enough from me and my life counseling session here. I wonder what is your time out moment? Do you have one? Let me know in the comments. Enjoy your time out!

Great post Igor! As funny as it sounds my time out moment is when the kids are asleep and I get to have a cup of tea and do a bit of blogging 😉 Probably not the most relaxing thing to do (it’s more stimulating) but that’s still me time and I enjoy being with my thoughts for a while uninterrupted. X
Thanks Pia! I think it is pretty ‘normal’ to have that kind of time out moment when you have kids that need your attention! And the time out moment is truly personal and varies – so some seek tranquility, some stimulation, inspiration, others just want to get distracted. Many ways. The important things is just to enjoy those moments consciously!
True, so true. Those moments are precious. Working again today, but tomorrow I’ll be enjoying a whole Sunday off. And I’ll definitely be taking your advice 🙂 Love that sand glass by the way. Enjoy your weekend xx
Hope you had a wonderful Sunday Yvonne! Now it’s back to work but without work we would not cherish and appreciate those precious time out moments!
Hello dear, you are so right. For me it is definitely when I make a bouquet in my flat in Paris and even more at my parents place, when I go round the garden to gather some flowers.
Have a nice time out today Igor and see you soon in Paris !
Oh I can imagine – your bouquets convey the good vibes you have while making them!! See you very soon in Paris, this time I was in the Normandy as you might have seen.
Love your hour glass as a reminder how precious time is. It’s lovely.
Thank you Amy! I like it too, it is a bit old fashioned but looks pretty contemporary in this glass version from Hay.
Lovely pictures. Especially the one with the yellow candles and lamp. Thanks for sharing a glimps of your home 🙂 Best, Kitti
Thank you Kitti!
