It is that time of the month – the Urban Jungle Bloggers are upon us! And this is the last planty styling topic before the summer break. Reason enough for me to pick one among my roughly 40 plants to be the star of this month’s topic ‘One plant – three stylings’. I’ve decided to use my small Oxalis triangularis plant that I grew from a propagated stem (maybe you remember its first appearance in THIS Urban Jungle Bloggers post). It has grown more stems and has even bloomed in the meantime, so here we go with the purple baby in three different plant stylings.
I haven’t gone too wild and too experimental as I always prefer to keep it in tune with my interior styling and my personal likings. So the first simple styling is very moi – I have simply placed the little beauty in its vintage ceramics planter on my vintage teak bureau, surrounded by crystals, a scented candle and a vintage basket. I love the earthy look with all the brown hues that are highlighted by the purple accent of the plant and the amethyst.
The second styling is a tad more colourful thanks to a few new little Voltasol plant pots with a semi-conical base. You might remember that I had the big white one for quite a while. Now the family has grown with a little yellow and pink version. The pink Voltasol pot seemed perfect to host my purple Oxalis which had the pleasure to strike a pose with a Ponytail palm, a succulent, an airplant and a colourful bunch of flowers from Bloomon. Hello summer styling!
The third version is again very earthy and boho – and yes, very much my style currently. This time the Oxalis mingles with a plethora of ceramics, vintage finds, figurines, and books. It is my little sideboard that hosts an ever growing collection of vintage items found on flea markets, on my travels and online. Notice the little extra dash of colour thanks to some Billy Buttons (Craspedia).
The little Oxalis seems to be a pretty versatile fellow and makes a good figure in all kind of settings. Even when simply placed on the wonderful graphic mudcloth from Africa! Isn’t she a cutie?!
Now this is the last Urban Jungle Bloggers edition before the summer break but it is special too – if you upload one of your plant stylings to the ‘Urban Jungle’ category on at{mine} until June 30th, you will be in the draw to win a SONY compact camera with WiFi! So hop over and upload your image! Fingers crossed!

Good morning Igor,
Oh, this plant seems to be ‘in the air’, it’s lovely, and I love your stylings with this simple beauty, and love your pictures, too!
I haven’t had a chance to take my pictures yet, but one of the styling I want try and achieve, is something more masculine, something for my husband’s office, and your beautiful stylings has inspired me to put something nice together.
Hopefully I’ll be able to join the fun soon.
Wonderful Regina! I am glad my blog post inspired you to do a little styling for your husband’s office! I will keep an eye on your blog to see the result!
The first one is definitely my favorite, just perfect. Although the third has a cat in it, which always gets you bonus points =^x^= Love Oxalis, they’re so easy and beautiful.
Ha, I consciously played the cat card:-)
Hi Igor!
Love this Oxalis, I have some growing in one of my balconies in Barcelona and is one of my favorites.
And this catalan Voltasol pots are amazing 🙂 Lovely pictures and styling!
Take care and enjoy your summer!
Thank you Joaquim and thanks so much for joining the Urban Jungle Bloggers this month from your new home in Dubai!
WOW!!! Igor you have done it again!! I would definitely pay you a ton of money to teach me the art of plant styling!! Each and every pic looks gorgeous ! *sigh* leaving me to play and figure it out for myself!! and ofcourse inspired!
Oh my rule is very simple – go with your gut feeling! And it is also part of the fun Samia – trial and error, just go for it! Thank you for your lovely compliment by the way!
I love all the stylings! It’s funny I was going to use Oxalis myself ( I just got one! And love it so far) – but had been a bit busy I couldn’t get to it yet! But many many more days till June is over 😉 Your planters (and of course the plants in it) are always so unique and one of my favorites!
Oh thank you Vin and I can’t wait to see your three plant stylings!!
How funny that you and Judith have the same plant (or maybe not so funny:-)
I love that last photo and I’m loving that your style/taste has gone more ethnic/vintage. You have some
lovely pots and vases.
Hugging all my European friends today and I know how hard this decision is for all of us. I wish I would have woken up to better news.
Thank you Tina and yes, that’s why I am always saying that interiors should evolve with your personality and likes to be in tune. And true words, if only the news had been better today…alas, we have to move on and try to fix what can be fixed!
I love this plant Igor, I had one, but strangely it died – hate when that happens. Might join you for this challenge – it’s been ages since I participated.
Happy weekend my friend.
A xx
Oh yes do so Anya! Would be nice to see you back with the Urban Jungle Bloggers! Plus this is the last topic before our summer break, so do join in!!!
