Well hello again! The Urban Jungle Bloggers styling topics are back! As announced we have switched to seasonal topics and today we are celebrating spring with ‘New Beginnings’. I have decided to gather my plants, new and old, in one spot and insert some flowers to welcome spring in my home.
Usually my plants are scattered around my home and I like the green bits and pieces everywhere. But when I group them together it is really a fantastic impact. Even though it is not a huge plant gang, but grouped on my vintage bureau it is a nice sight, isn’t it? Moreover, it is not only the variety and amount of plants. It is also the mix of plant pots, sizes, foliages that creates so much vibrancy and interest.
But let’s speak about some new beginnings among my plants. Most evidently I am very happy about the new leaves growing on my Begonia maculata. The plant suffered quite a lot as it was a prop for a bigger styling project and traveled from one place to another in a plastic bag. When it arrived in my home it was literally devastated. Every leaf was broken or injured, and I doubted if it will make it at all. But look now! Truly new beginnings!
I am also very happy with the growth of my cacti, the jewel orchid, the string of hearts and more. Even one of my Tillandsia airplants is flowering! On the other hand I was totally sad to realize that my pink Calathea was infested with what I think are mealybugs. Oy! I’ll try my best to cure it but I am totally afraid that it will infect other plants. So for now she must live in quarantine. But apart from that: I am very happy with my plants! And how sweet is the postcard I received from my Urban Jungle Bloggers buddy Judith? I am in love with it!

Such a sweet bunch of green housemates in lovely pots! But why does your Calathea look so good? Mine now only has one leaf left XD Oh dear…
I have no clue! But almost every leaf is infected on the backside with what I think are mealybugs. I am trying to save it somehow but I am not sure if I will succeed with all my upcoming trips. Let’s see!
Ugh, those are terrible. I think the only way to rid of those is to use water and a little bit of detergent. Aaaanyway. Not helping if you’re traveling a lot. Enjoy your trips regardless!
Merci:-)
Love the string of hearts and jewel orchid? Those airplants pots though 🙂
Yes it is a jewel orchid!!! 🙂
Ha! You are definitely my favorite plant lover 😉 So happy to see that the Begonia is thriving after everything it went through! She’s one tough lady! Here’s to more great new beginnings <3
She truly is!!! Even her damaged leaves are still going on – they are not giving up!! I like tough plants like her:-) Thank you my favorite plant buddy!!!
Hi! Lovely plants! What are the names of the plants in the second picture? The purple one on top of the book pile and the one in the terracotta pot? Thanks!
Hi Jen!! The purple one is an Oxalis triangularis and the one next to it in the terracotta pot is a Peperomia Napoli. Hope this helps!!
