It is one year ago that we featured the first plant shelfie on Urban Jungle Bloggers. It was one of those super successful monthly topics and our green community has grown quite a bit ever since, so we thought this November would be perfect to revive the plant shelfie and get creative with our plants. I do not have too many shelves at home (and those that I have a packed with books and ceramics) so finding the perfect stage for this month’s plant shelfie seemed tricky – until I received my new bar cart / trolley funnily named ‘Donkey’ from the new Scandinavian furniture label Norrmade. Perfect ‘shelves’ for my plant shelfie 2015, don’t you agree?

November is a pretty moody month here in Germany so I decided to embrace the moody atmosphere and make it part of my plant shelfie styling. Moody, deep, velvety colours such as deep purples, dark greens, ochre, deep blues, smokey reds are set against the grey wall and the black bar cart. Additionally I opted for a brass table lamp, vintage ceramics, books and crystals. All things I really like and love. My plant shelfie was quickly thrown together and the pictures taken on a rare free weekend.

Plant wise I was focusing on my more colourful mates – the crazily growing Purple Heart plant (aka Tradescantia, I got a baby plant from Judith a while ago), a Peperomia caperata, some mini cacti, a few Monstera leaves and a sprig of my Oxalis plant. What I love about these plants are not just the colours, but also the fact that they are super low-maintenance. I mean that Purple Heart is growing without any effort – all I do is water it from time to time.

I am pretty happy that my ‘Donkey’ bar cart arrived in time for the plant shelfie post. Isn’t it just wonderful? I think it will become my new ‘styling playground’ – I have also added some beautiful vintage glasses that I got from my mother last weekend (see it here). I might add a few bottles to create a real bar cart feeling but for the time being I love my plant cart – oh, I mean my plant shelfie 2015!

Such a nice moody Plantshelfie Igor! The Oxalis and Purple Heart plant match SO well! And do I spot a new tiny cactus plant in there too? So cute! I think we need to open a bottle from your barcart soon to celebrate #plantshelfie Two 😉

Hahaha I think so too! The bottles are back and I got some vintage glasses from my mum so we are ready to say #ChinChin to our plantshelfie two!

Hi Igor, really lovely cart and plant composition. By magic you put my favorite plants in there. It’s mainly because I love purple colourings in plants, velvety structures and hart shapes. What to say more? Tradescantia, Peperomia and Oxalis are perfect together.

A cart full of plants it’s something I’d love in my home too. Thanks for the inspiration and happy november
    🙂

Thank you Stefania for your wonderful comment! I was inspired by the autumn season with all its rich colours and velvety textures which is why I wanted that moody atmosphere on my plant bar cart:-) Happy you like it!

Love the colour of your purple heart plant and that whole atmospheric look you’ve got going on there. Kind of perfect for that November feeling, yet at the same time, the plants give it a positive vibe!

Thank you Sarah! My goal was to create a very seasonal plant shelfie that is beyond foliage and vibrant hues but more November like, moodier and darker but also rich in deep hues and textures. Voilà:-)

Owww, I love everything about this! That cart is fab. I’m running SO very late with this month’s UJB post, oh my… I hear you about rare free weekends… let’s not even mention the rest of the week 😉 Have a happy Monday, Igor.

Love the moody purple vibe. Just perfect for winter cosiness. I have an Oxalis too – such an attractive plant, but it’s struggling a little. I left it in my studio whilst doing a firing and I think it got singed.

Your composition and assemblages of plants , rocks and objects is exquisite. I took this photo of my current favourite plant using 35mm film last week -https://www.flickr.com/photos/julianmoran/24515758074/in/dateposted-public/
