May is a great month. It’s one of the best and most beautiful spring months (even though the weather right now here in Germany is crap) and it is my birthday in May. In fact it was my birthday just four days ago and I granted myself a little and relaxed sunny breakfast – and I though hey, here we go, the ideal moment to immortalize the moment for this month’s Urban Jungle Bloggers topic!
As you can see it was no big deal. I really did not make a huge effort this time which is mainly due to an insane workload. I was simply struggling with my time management this time. So I hope you will forgive me the simple and unspectacular setting. However, my breakfast was really yummy – I prepared some French toast accompanied by fresh strawberries, mascarpone and fresh mint leaves. Everything was washed down with a glass of orange juice and a Chemex of good, slow drip coffee from Costa Rica – thanks to my friend and work colleague Johanna who brought a pack of locally grown, organic coffee all the way back to Munich.
I have consciously chosen a breakfast table setting for this month’s Urban Jungle Bloggers theme because I really love a quiet and slow breakfast on one of the rare weekends when I am in Munich. Quite often I only manage to have such a breakfast on a Sunday as Saturdays are too packed with chores and other to-dos that do not allow for a long and relaxed breakfast. But for this post I managed to capture the moment of one of my slow Sunday breakfasts.
Apart from the scrumptious food, I was accompanied with a few of my plants of course. For this breakfast table I opted for a few cacti and succulents that look pretty cheerful on the little ochre placemat. I particularly love my Stapelia plant because it comes with a little story: 1,5 years ago I went to a birthday dinner at a Greek restaurant here in Munich and I spotted a huge Stapelia on the windowsill next to my seat and I couldn’t help but take one cutting with me and plant it at home. It was one little cutting and in the meantime it has grown many new arms and it keeps growing! I hope one day it will bloom too – Stapelia grandiflora have amazing flowers! We will see! Enough now, I am off to read your Urban Jungle Bloggers posts now!

I knew I shouldn’t open your blog feeling hungry! Thankfully hubby is at the grocery store buying baguettes so we can have a little feast here at home … the weather over here is crappy too.
Again, happy birthday!
Ha I hope you had a good and delicious little feast with your hubby!! And thanks again:-)
Lieber Igor,

that looks like a delicious breakfast to me, hmmm strawberries. I like the way you make the pictures so lively by putting yourself in, would love to see the making of :)) And funny to find out that we have our birthday on the same day Igor :)) I knew 13 was your lucky number too but never realized we shared the same month too…Happy belated birthday! x
Thank you so much Yzette and happy belated birthday to you too in that case:-) Oh my, the making-of is hilarious as I am shooting it all by myself with my camera and tripod – sometimes I think that if someone saw me, he’d think I am a bit nuts:-))
