Urban Jungle Bloggers: Spring Inspired Styling

20 March 2014 1

The March issue of our monthly ‘Urban Jungle Bloggers’ series features the theme ‘spring or Easter styling with plants’. I must admit I was a bit challenged mostly because I won’t be at home in Munich for Easter so I am not planning on any Easter themed decoration. Next challenge: I usually don’t do any spring decoration at home, I mean apart from the random bunch of fresh blooms. But the topic was set so I had to adjust and invent. And I had to it quickly on a Sunday morning. I got up and before I had breakfast the idea came to me: Let’s do a happy spring table setting.

The props were to be found in my home. A few basics and decorative kitchen accessories, a few colour pops in my favorite hues blue and yellow and of course some of my houseplants. I think that cacti and small sized succulents are excellent elements for a tabletop styling – so I was all ready to go and give it a try.

Given the limited time frame and scope of props I only had a one shot trial. I added a linen tablecloth in an earthy hue, grey plates, simple cutlery, fine blue and white napkins that I brought back from Stockholm, glasses, an olive oil carafe, a water carafe, my yellow Muuto pepper mill, a few blue and yellow candles and candleholders, some stems of fresh blooms, and my plants – voilà, a quick spring inspired tabletop styling theme with some of my favorite houseplants.

I have not outdone myself this time, but I was fine with the outcome. Plus after the styling and photographing I had a finely set table to enjoy my leisurely Sunday breakfast – all alone!

Enough from my part, I am off to check out what the others have created for this month’s ‘Urban Jungle Bloggers’ topic.

Oh and don’t forget: Houseplants will make your home a healthier and happier place!

Love it! Bluish/greyish + white and yellow is so nice and fresh! I really like the napkins (I’m not surprised at all that they were from Stockholm 😉 ). Napkin flowers are the best way to jazz up a table setting.
I hope I will be able to join in as well, maybe next week.
    Have a nice day!

I’d have Easter brunch at your place in a heartbeat, Igor! It looks so nice and fresh! And with a cute Atelier Stella bowl on the table any breakfast (even alone) becomes a happy one 😉 Yayy for UJB!

Igor you certainly had a lovely place to enjoy breakfast. Did it feel extra good? I bet it did, a set table somehow always does. Love the cacti and succulent pots. I think I’m going to join along this week, I’ll put my thinking cap on. Fun! Mel:)

Yes Mel, please do! We’d be very happy if you joined the fun! You see, it can be easily and quickly done. I just did it while setting the table for breakfast anyway:-)

Maybe it’s because of these warmer and sunny days but in this period I’m very attracted by yellow and I love the match with light blue!

Your Sunday set-ups are the BEST! Next week I finally will be having a huge dining table and I can’t wait to decorate it too! It’s such a great thing to do: you AND your guests can enjoy a pretty view… Plus, by changing a few accessories you have a whole different mood! I love your linen table cloth so much and also the color combination! I could decorate with linen all over the place because I love it so much! I used to have lots of greys and yellows in my old home and maybe I’ll make a little set up with the same Muuto mill I got from you in Cologne 😉 Always makes me smile, when I think back and I love seeing your Muuto mill in such a great company!
    Have an amazing weekend, Anastasia

Thank you so much Anastasia and I can’t wait to see your new table & tabletop design on Stilzitat! And yes, the yellow Muuto mill bears so many lovely design fun memories – it is dear to my heart, not only because of its happy design but also because of those special memories! Have a happy spring day!

The spring flowers on the place settings are such a perfect finishing touch! And I also love the way you have displayed the sprigs of parsley in a water bottle. What a great idea – and so effective 🙂

What are you talking about?? This table setting is gorgeous! I’ll fight Judith for the other spot on this table! I have absolute plant pot envy, you have the best collection. Fantastic interpretation! I’ll hopefully get to contribute after the weekend, I planned on putting mine together last weekend, but of course got caught up doing weekend things!! xx

I love your pots and plants! So nice to look at. But what I like most is that your table cloth is wrinkled. 🙂 This made me smile because mine is too (always) and I feel guilty because I hate ironing. I will have my wrinkled table cloth with pride now!

  • Reply woszumessn 21 March 2014 at 18:20

yay, more happy plant pots – absolutely my favorite on the table 😉 wheee 😀

I love your table setting, it’s truly perfect for a Sunday breakfast. And I love the idea of using plants you already have at home. Sometimes I forget to look around and instead I go buy something new.
