Why This Room Caught My Eye

Do we share the same weird experience? I refer to that feeling when we enter a home or a single room for the first time and we get hooked by a few salient interior design details and can’t help but admire them repeatedly (and sometimes ask the host or owner about the origins, the inspiration, the source etc.). Well, this happens quite often to me. Sometimes it is something very general like a special wall paint or flooring, other times it is a tiny little detail, like a decorative element or an art piece. This was actually the idea behind my Tuesday series ‘Why This Room Caught My Eye’. So here is another web finding that caught my eye and these are the three reasons why I got hooked by this room:
  • Open fireplace: I have never lived in an apartment with a fireplace so I get instantly exciting when I spot a fireplace. Especially such a stylish open one like here.
  • Soft colour palette: I really like the soft colour palette in this room. Dusky pink, bright beige, grey and brown hues create a harmonious entity in this romantic room.
  • Tactile surfaces: The use of various fabrics and tactile surfaces makes the interior styling perfect. The soft rug, the furry pouf, the velvety cushions and sofa – who wouldn’t love to cuddle up in this room?
Is this room catching your eye too?

so cozy!! I love this room and its palettes, especially when it is all slushy grey outside right now. What a refreshing soft purple and pink… such feminine color staples and yet totally inviting for the male audience as well thanks to the sleek fireplace and spotless flooring.

The open fireplace definitely gives the room so much character. You can just imagine cosy evenings spent in front of a warm fire!

I also like the idea of the coloured panels behind the sofa – such a quick and easy way to add colour to the room without having to repaint all the walls.

No the coloured panels…. why aren’t they hung on the wall? I’ve seen this quite a bit recently and I’m not a fan. IMO they make the room look really cluttered.

      Otherwise, great room.

Hi Igor! Just before popping over here, I was at Hege In France and she posted today about using big boards as decor and used this image as one of the examples 🙂 Great minds! I like the room for all the reasons you mentioned and for the big boards(canvases) idea too.

    Xx. Holly.

    Hi Igor!
Yes, this room did catch my eye. How funny!
Apart from the things you pointed out (and the
large boards I pointed out)I also like the rug
and the lamp. It is a beautiful room.

    Hello my lovely…

I do like this kind of style, but I am one happy chick on a colourful design mission lol! I have tried to calm my passion for colour, but it makes me feel sad, as colour is an inspiration for me in everything that I do….

Perhaps one day when I win the lottery, I will buy myself a holiday home and decorate it with subdued colours and filter my mind from all the craziness going on in my head 😉

Lovely talking to you and finding you…

    Love Happy xx

Someone went crazy with the textures. Tidy that sofa and put those slippers away 😉

I do like those large panels – nice idea.
