When a new shop opens in a city and it calls itself ‘Wildernis’ then all my Urban Jungle Bloggers alarm bells are ringing and I know I have to get there. A few months ago I happened to find myself in Amsterdam for a business trip and it was a clear thing that I had to meet up with my dear friend and fellow blogger Desiree of Vosgesparis. And it was her who introduced me to a new green shop in Amsterdam: Wildernis.
It was a pretty windy day when we set off to discover Wildernis – one of the owners, Mila, opened the store especially for us and from the moment we opened the door we found ourselves in a real urban wilderness: hanging plants covering the ceiling, cacti galore, leafy indoor plants tucked throughout the shop, terrariums, planters, gardening tools, plant books, colourful watering cans, flowers, vases – oh my, this is truly an Urban Jungle Bloggers heaven!
Mila, who used to be a freelance journalist, opened Wildernis with a friend and they turned their passion for plants into their own business catering to the growing plant-loving crowd of Amsterdam. And since plants create cosy and comfy interiors, Wildernis is not only a shop to shop but also a place to immerse yourself into a green lifestyle and get inspired. You can sit down, order a great coffee, flip through various plant books and chat with the shop owners – the experience is is far more than mere shopping.
Wildernis will inspire even the most reluctant plant person. If you doubt the need for plants in our homes, Wildernis will convince you to think twice. Not only will you be impressed by the abundance of plants, but the owners will surely make you understand that living with plants is not difficult. Wildernis is also a place to gather and work together – the shop team organizes with various plant experts workshops in the store thus not only inspiring people but also educating them. All for a greener city and a greener life. If you find yourself in Amsterdam one day, do not miss a stop-over at Wildernis. You will not regret it.

Impossible to stop taking photos in a shop like this 😉 Wildernis is even more wild than I imagined! Really nice! Now I reallllly have to plan a visit!
Right?? You must visit Judith!! But taking photos is pretty tricky with all the indoor light – but still, the plants are so cool and the owners are really nice! We should do something with them for Urban Jungle Bloggers!
Nice pics! I went there last week to photograph and loved it too! There’s another shop just around the corner specialized in balconies decor. I will let you know when I blogged about that one for you to see.
Perfect, thanks Louise!! Amsterdam is such a cool and green city!! Love all the creative spaces there!
And I thought you had just redecorated your apartment! ;- )
This shop looks heaven-sent for plant-people like you; it looks as if the mothership was calling you home! I love it that they serve coffee, too.
I mean plants and coffee?? I could spend like the whole day there:-) Mothership…like it, ha!
I love it Igor – it’s clearly a jungle in there :))
Hope you are having a fab week,
Ax
Wild!! That is an amazing plant shop. Plants and plants on end – my kind of store.
Hi Igor.
Great post! Love all the different cacti & Flora that Wildernis has to offer, although not what springs to mind when the phrase Amsterdam green shop is mentioned! Still, a beautiful and inspiring store.
By the way, we recently included your pinterest in our ’15 Best Interior Design Pinterest accounts’.
Just FYI 🙂
